Making a Difference

Presentation of BD228 to the Migrant Workers Society of Bahrain’s Teresa Mohan, Head of Labour and Safety Welfare, by St Christopher’s student, Jacob Vaandrager and Head of Year 7, Kim Chadwick.

Year 7 students Jacob and his friend Jack Hendy raised the money independently by fundraising in their spare time. The money has been donated to 6 ladies in the Women’s Shelter along with phone cards donated by Sixth Form students.

“We tried to raise as much money as possible by visiting many compounds in the area and asking for donations. The Sixth Form raised more money through having a Mufti Day. At the Labour Camp we handed out blankets and backpacks. The migrant workers were so happy and we were delighted to have made a positive change in their lives. We hope to be able to do this again” said Jacob Vaandrager.
