Snakes, Dragons and a Story to Tell

Year 3 have been learning about Chinese music and the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Snake. In fact, this was the theme for this year’s Cantata!  The pupils were chased by the ‘Rat in mi’ Kitchen’, mystified by the Snake to ‘Trust in Me’ and dancing until they were dropping with ‘Shaun the Sheep’ who represented the Ram in our Chinese Zodiac. Other songs featured were the Toy Story favourite – ‘You’ve got a friend in me’, ‘Bright Eyes’, and ‘I wanna be like you’. The Cantata culminated in a song and Dragon Dance with a fantastic dancing dragon making a guest appearance all the way from Hong Kong.

Teachers, parents and fellow students were transported to the mystical and exotic land of China by the songs of Year 3 and they were later treated to fortune cookies kindly donated by one of the parents.
