Looking to Earth’s Future

From  June 12 to June 16, the current Year 12 IB students were off timetable to complete the IB Group 4 project. The overall theme was to improve the environment on Earth by looking at the social, ethical and environmental effects of science and technology. The students were placed into groups of 4 or 5 with mixed subject specialisms and undertook 10 hours of practical work on methods that may improve the environment in the future. This included looking at methods that may save energy or reduce the demand for energy and decrease the carbon dioxide levels that contribute to the enhanced greenhouse effect. The students presented their results and conclusions of their investigative work to staff and their peers. The Year 9 and 10 Science groups later viewed the display work and discussed ideas with the Year 12 IB students.
