Life on the High Seas

A group of children from KS1 and KS2 had some surprise visitors last week.

A selection of crew from HMS Shoreham, a British Minesweeper currently based in Bahrain, came into the school and joined in a range of activities which included reading comprehension and writing tasks,  finger painting to reinforce phonic sounds, role play, maths games and a highly competitive game of ‘Spot it’!

On behalf of HMS Shoreham the Executive Officer, Dave Stanbury, presented the children with a picture of the Minesweeper.  Children in Year 5 and 6 then had the opportunity to ask questions about life and work on a naval vessel.

All the children and staff enjoyed the visit immensely.
