Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

Following two highly challenging yet rewarding expeditions to Oman in March, the 97 participating students delivered entertaining and informative presentations to an audience of their family and friends over two afternoons in early April. Each of the 8 groups produced interesting display boards showcasing the highs and lows of their 24km expedition as well as delivering short speeches on how they planned and coped with the outdoor challenges they faced. The audience also contained many teachers and it was testament to their efforts that each group of students made reference to the support and encouragement they had received from their group leader. It was clear to see that the students learnt a great deal about themselves and what they are capable of. Hopefully, they also found a renewed appreciation for the great outdoors and this may spur them on to undertake the Silver Award next year.
