Trotting out for Charity

On Saturday 13 December, fifty Year Ten students volunteered their time to assist with the 2014 Cherry Tree Trot at the Bahrain International Circuit. The Cherry Tree Trot is a well-established fund raising event and raises a huge amount of money that helps over 35 Charities on the island. The Year Ten St Chris students were involved in all aspects of the day: registering competitors, handing out T-shirts, staffing the refreshments stalls and marshalling the public around the facility. Many students also helped walk physically and mentally disabled competitors around the track for the 1K Cherry Tree Trot. Mr O’Dowd, Head of Year Ten, remarked, “It was amazing to see our students involved in every aspect of the day. I was delighted to see students being so generous with their time to work alongside disabled people of all ages.” The event raised over BD38,000 and Chair Person Mary McGinnis said, “2014’s CTT was a success because of our many volunteers, including those from St Christopher’s School and we would like to personally thank the St  Christopher’s School Volunteers who supported our 2014 Cherry Tree Trot fundraiser.” To round off a fantastic day, Year 10 student Kizzy Price took home a Trophy for winning the 5k race in her category.
