Footie for Charity

1a - Grp

My Duke of Edinburgh’s International Silver Award was fast approaching and my Community Service was still blank. After searching for numerous things to do, I decided that I wanted to do something on a larger scale and really make a difference. This is when I was approached by Paul Vrijhof, my neighbour, who was planning a local Football Tournament. We decided that it would be a great idea to turn this event into a Charity Football Tournament. After some research, we decided to support The NBB Home for Disabled Children in Bahrain; I wanted to make a difference and help children less fortunate than myself. St Chris Senior School had already created murals for the home.

The Football Tournament included a Cookie Stand run by Roma Vhrijof and Jessica Gardiner and a Raffle Stand as well as Massages all kindly donated by sponsors. All profits raised by these stalls went straight to the Charity. The Tournament went off without a hitch; the Under 8 and Under 14 teams that took part thoroughly enjoyed the day. After counting up the money, we were amazed to see just how many people donated with an amazing grand total of over BD1300! All the money shall go straight to The NBB Home for Disabled Children in Bahrain. ~ Olivia Gardiner Year 11
