Sharing Kindness

On Thursday 12 November, the whole School celebrated World Kindness Day.

In the Infant and Junior School parents, teachers and students were met at the gates by members of the Kindness Club who had been planning the event for weeks. With cookies, stickers and hearts in hand, the children set out to start everyone’s day with a smile, helped of course by the Kindness Bear! Inside the school, post it notes with positive messages and kind words written by the Kindness Club were scattered around on desks, walls and bathroom mirrors! The World Kindness Day photo booth was a huge success and it was great to see lots of children getting into the spirit of kindness with big smiles on their faces! In classrooms, teachers encouraged children to write special messages of gratitude to people in their lives who have helped them. Children chose to write to cleaning staff at school, teachers and people who help them at home such as nannies and drivers.

The Community Service Captains at the Senior School lead and organised activities for the event. On Wednesday, card stalls were set up in a variety of locations across the school where students and teachers could come to design a card and arrange for it to be delivered to a friend. The card stalls were very popular and the Community Service Captains were overwhelmed with deliveries to organise during registration the following day. Cards were decorated with a variety of different messages and illustrations to wish people happiness and good wishes. On Thursday, a team of Service Captains greeted students upon their arrival into school to wish them a ‘Happy World Kindness Day’ and gave them a happy stamp on their hand. This was a wonderful, student-lead event that involved students and staff from across the whole Senior School.

A huge thank you to everybody who was involved and don’t forget to keep being kind! We hope that everyone was able to recognise that being kind makes you feel good, and is as easy as giving someone a smile!
