Gearing Up to Take Flight

Fourteen Year 11 and Year 12 Design and Technology students, accompanied by Martin Plunkett and Jane Riley, had the opportunity to attend The Bahrain International Air Show as VIP guests, courtesy of BAE Systems. The students gained a significant insight into the World of Military and Civilian Aviation during the course of the day. They enjoyed a tour of the BAE Systems Typhoon aircraft and met the RAF Typhoon Display Team. Each student experienced the RAF Typhoon flight simulator and the heads-up display state of the art helmet. They met with personnel from the RAF Museum at Hendon, had a tour of Spitfire aircraft and discussed careers relating to Engineering, Design, Finance, Business, ICT systems, supply and distribution and events management. A special thank you is extended to Mr Andrew Wilson from BAE Systems and Lt Colonel Andy Price from the British Embassy for organising the event. The students were a credit to our school and community.
