Welcome Year 10 Parents

The Year 10 Curriculum Evening took place on Sunday 24 September in the School Hall, Isa Town.  The event was well attended with over 150 parents and students present.  Following a welcome by Bryon Pearce, Assistant Head of Senior School, the Head of Senior School, Mr Nick Wilson summarised the excellent comments received from the school’s most recent BSO inspection and celebrated the recent examination results.  Tim Phillpots, Head of Year 10, then gave a brief outline of the pastoral care and discussed the extra-curricular and leadership opportunities which will be available to the Year 10 students during this academic year.  Finally, Bryon Pearce, focused on the changes to the GCSE curriculum regarding the grading system and the adjustments to controlled assessment and what will be required over the next two years to ensure the students fulfil their potential.  The presentation was positively received by all who attended and, at the conclusion, parents had the opportunity to ask a range of questions regarding the year ahead.
