They’ve Got the Moves!

The first U11 football competition of the year saw St Christopher’s invited to participate in the inaugural IAPS Games at JESS Arabian Ranches, Dubai. Ten players were selected to make the journey and represent the Junior School.

We kicked off on Saturday morning against Foremarke Hall and the boys quickly found their rhythm. They put together some excellent passing moves and won 2-0, thanks to great finishing by Abdulla Al Aali. The next match turned out to be a tougher test as JESS’s goalkeeper took us on almost single-handed and earned his team 2-0 win. St Chris needed a win in their last group game against hosts JESS Arabian Ranches and despite having huge possession and territory, could not buy a goal, losing 1-0.

With everyone tied for second place on points, the decision for the cup final went past goal difference and ultimately to goals scored, and St Chris had to settle for the plate final instead. Up against Foremarke again, the match was noticeably tighter, but thanks to an opportunist strike by Faisal Fakhro, St Chris emerged 1-0 winners and brought a first trophy of the season back home to Bahrain.
