Our swim team ‘The Sharks’ competed in the Middle East Open Junior Championship, which is classed as one of the strongest swim competitions in the GCC. There were athletes from all over the Gulf region and beyond. We took 11 St Chris swimmers comprising of 5 Juniors and 6 Seniors. We were the only school team swimming against all other clubs. The older swimmers swam their fastest in the morning sessions to try to qualify for the finals in the evening. We are proud to say that our Senior Sharks managed to qualify for 6 finals.
Between the morning and evening sessions, the organizers managed to run a junior championship which again was of a very high standard. Our 5 Junior swimmers did a fantastic job and they beat 95% of their personal best times. Klara Mareschova swam an amazing 50m fly and she won our only medal – silver.
We are extremely proud of our Sharks for coping under the immense pressure of this high level competition.
