Goal!

The Senior School has been getting into the World Cup spirit this month with a range of fun activities to mark the world’s biggest sporting spectacle taking place in Russia. The School’s Reception area has been decorated with hundreds of colourful drawings of flags from each of the 32 competing nations. One flag per day will be picked each morning of the last week of term and the winner will receive chocolates or cookies for their form group. Meanwhile, the whole school were invited to take part in a Penalty Shoot-out competition which took place on Sunday 1 July in the Sports Hall. Often the England National team’s downfall in major tournaments, Lucas Watson 8E and Kareem Bagaeen 10G were beaten in the final by Roshan Rahamathullah of 10A who takes the trophy and the title of St Chris World Cup Penalty Champion 2018! Well done, Roshan! Elsewhere in the school, students have been exploring facts about the countries competing in the tournament in Enrichment and taking part in a World Cup quiz during Activities Day on Thursday 26 June. All of the festivities have only enhanced the growing belief among English fans in particular that football really is coming home this year!
