The Learning Support Department recently hosted their LS Coffee Afternoon. Parents of children that attend our Literacy Clubs were given the opportunity to explore a variety of resources and to share fun and creative ideas about how they can support their child’s reading, at home.  The team introduced games and strategies which help younger children learn to blend and chunk sounds, recognise syllables in words and to develop a greater awareness of rhyme. They also shared effective questioning techniques for older readers; to encourage pupils to think about what they had read and to discuss their ideas, articulate opinions and draw deeper meaning from a text.
