Water Projects

Every year, IB Scientists complete a collaborative project based on a common theme. This year’s IB Group 4 Project was based on the theme of Water. This broad topic allowed the Year 12 IB students large creative scope for scientific investigation. Groups of students worked together to plan detailed scientific experimental activities that allowed them to explore their interests. Under staff supervision, the students worked independently to try to find answers to important issues such as bath water electrocution, hydraulics, canned fruit pH, meat tenderising, water purity and the refraction index of sugar solutions. Students learnt a great deal about planning, problem solving and scientific measurement. On completion of the practical portion of the project, the students then presented their findings in a very professional manner to their peers and invited members of staff.
