Towards a Bright Future

The Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards Evening was held on Monday 7 January in the Saar Auditorium. This highly celebratory ceremony, which was attended by more than two hundred and fifty students, families, honoured guests and teaching staff, was opened by welcome addresses from the Principal, Mr Ed Goodwin and Mrs Sonia Carr, Regional Academic Director, Edexcel International.

The String Quartet, comprising Rayan Bannai, Raoul D’Souza, Matthew Holman and Michel TouToungy, performed Humoresque by Dvorak and Libertango by Piazzolla prior to the presentation of Awards. GCSE Medals and GCSE Certificates were presented by Mrs Carr, assisted by Mrs Hilary Rowark, Assistant Headteacher and Ms Rola Al Hammoud, Head of Year. A Level Medals and A Level and IB Certificates were presented by Mrs Carr, assisted by Mr Stephen Martin, Assistant Headteacher and Ms Danielle Sheppard, Head of Year. The Alumni speeches were made by Mr Faruq Quadir, who is studying Chemical Engineering at Cambridge University and by Mr Aditya Sarkar who is studying Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at Stanford University.

The closing address was given by Mr Nick Wilson, Headteacher of Senior School, which was followed by the Vote of Thanks proposed by the Head Girl, Jenna Kamal and the Head Boy, Mahmood Al Khenaizi. The ceremony concluded with refreshments and formal photographs.
