Honouring our Students

The Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards Evening was held on Tuesday 6 January in the Saar Auditorium. This highly celebratory ceremony was attended by more than 250 students, families, honoured guests and teaching staff. Nassim Ershaed, Regional Director International Qualifications Middle East, Africa and Caribbean made the opening address which was followed by three excellent musical interludes. Rayan Bannai and Michel Toutoungy played Three Movements from 44 Duos for Violin by Bartok, Lulu Al Sugair performed Hypnosis by Ian Clarke and the Saxophone Quintet, comprising Bassam Al Alawi, Rayan Bannaie, Sam Caley, William Caley and Marc Kalis, played Let It Go by Lopez. The GCSE Medals and GCSE Certificates were presented by Nick Wilson, Head of Senior School, assisted by Adrian Walker, Assistant Head of Senior School and Rola Al Hammoud, Head of Year.

The A-level Medals and A-level and IB Certificates were presented by Wendy Bataineh, Head of Junior School, assisted by Hilary Rowark, Assistant Head of Senior School and Danielle Sheppard, Head of Year. The Edexcel Special Awards were presented by Nassim Ershaed. The Alumni speeches were made by Yasmine Makkiyah, who is studying Global Public Health at New York University and Alaa Albaharna, who is studying Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. The closing address was given by Nick Wilson, Head of Senior School, which was followed by the Vote of Thanks proposed by the Head Girl, Hana Nasif and the Head Boy, Milan Malik. The ceremony concluded with refreshments and formal photographs.
