U15 Girls Netball and Football

The Girls’ performance was absolutely outstanding throughout the Netball Competition. Playing against teams of greatly different abilities is often a challenge, but the team kept its composure and played ‘our own game’.  Though we conceded in the Final, to Kuwait English School 9 – 6, St Chris girls fought hard until the final whistle. Superb shooting from our two shooters, excellent defence and strong attack characterised our play. Next time ……..

Day Two on the Football field , the team was undefeated in the Pool Games, beating schools from Kuwait, Qatar and Egypt. The result of the Final against The International Community School, Jordan  was decided on Golden Penalty Goals. It was a nail biting finish to a great day’s football and the Trophy was deservedly won by St Christopher’s.

U15 Boys Basketball and Football

Though the Boy’s Football team fought hard against some very strong opposition, they finished third in a group of five. In the play off for fifth and sixth, they came back to win 3 – 2 in an exciting Final match. Excellent individual performances on the day came from goal scorers:  Laith Alhindi (4 goals), Adam Harper (3 goals) and Faisal Al Khalifa (2 goals). Sam Hoar did a great job in Defence and Goalkeeper, Robbie Koeck made some crucial saves.

Basketball started with a victory over the International Community School, Jordan. This victory gave us a real psychological boost which bolstered us against the British School, Kuwait in a match that resulted in a very tight and thrilling 3-0 victory. The next two pool matches resulted in heroic but narrow losses.  We dominated the British International School, Riyadh in the battle for 5th place.  Special mention must go to Robbie Koeck, Sam Hoar and Jean Boujakli who started every match, along with our reliable Shooter and Captain, Donovan Mongelos.

U15 Boys and Girls Athletics

The final day of Athletics was very much a team competition in which St Chris dominated. On the Girls’ side, we won every event, except the Javelin. Special mention must go to Nicole Moir, with victories in the 200m, 800m and Mixed Relay, and Reema El Kaiali with wins in the 100m, Long Jump and a very exciting High Jump. Olivia Wilson won the Shot Putt , Catherine Martin  earned a Bronze in the 200m as did Phoebe Licence in the Long Jump. The boys performed very well: Sam Hoar won a Bronze in the High Jump and Adam Harper came a narrow second in the 200m. Arjan Hanson -Singh ran strongly for Bronze in the 800m and the Relay Team made the Final. We also won the Girls and Mixed relays. It was a strong team performance and we won the overall Athletics by a very long way. This final day of Athletics was a very fitting and satisfying end to a fantastic and memorable U15 BSME Games.
