On Sunday 17th November, 19 Design Technology and History students attended a Science, Technology, Engineering and Technology visit to see the iconic, World War 2, Silver Spitfire. ‘Girty’ as she is known, has travelled over 22,000 miles around the World, she has only 5,000 miles left until she finally reaches UK on the final stages of the, ‘Longest Flight’.
The program is managed by Mr Lachlan Monroe, who was joined by Ex-RAF Pilot, Squadron Leader, Ian ‘Smithy’ Smith, Chief Engineer, Gerry Jones at Boultbee Academy and Film Maker, Ben Uttley, who is filming the journey of the Spitfire’s adventure around the globe. The film will be eventually be broadcast on the BBC and Netfix in 2020.
