C’est La Vie

Two students, Giselle Nascimento Dias and Athena Puri, were the fortunate recipients of Jules Verne Scholarships awarded by the French Embassy. They spent two weeks in Nice in August 2017 immersing themselves in the French language and the culture of the French Riviera. Giselle reports that the trip to Nice was a great experience and that she really enjoyed it. The classes were interesting and challenging, and she felt like her French really improved because of using it so much. She met new people from all over the world, and bonded with roommates and classmates. In the two weeks she spent in Nice, she had the opportunity to visit Monaco and Cannes with her group of friends and took lots of amazing pictures, buying lots of souvenirs. She learnt to become a lot more independent in Nice and certainly gained in confidence. Athena notes that the experience was really amazing as she learned so much. The city was beautiful, and she became really good friends with several people of varying nationalities. The course and teachers were great, and the activities they planned were truly fantastic. Such an amazing experience. We wish the students every success in their French studies this academic year.
