Boys and Girls Football Champions

Overall Position: Runners Up

The 2015 Under 13 games were hosted by The British School of Kuwait over the weekend of 15, 16 and 17 January. Twenty-four very excited students from Years 7 and 8 arrived late on Wednesday evening primed ready for some very tough competition. The games were formally opened by HE    Matthew Lodge, British Ambassador to Kuwait in front of nearly 300 students and assembled dignitaries.  Some excellent individual performances and great team spirit enabled St Christopher’s to achieve third place overall in the athletics, a great way to begin our quest for success. On the second day, the girls and boys went to different locations for the Basketball (Boys) and Netball (Girls) competition. Our teams battled hard but were up against some very strong competition, and some very tall players! We were delighted to achieve fifth position in both events. On the final day, Football. Both teams performed brilliantly.

The Girls scored more goals in their pool games than the total number of goals scored by all the teams in the other pool games! The girls swept the board to beat The British School of Jeddah (6 – 0) in the final. The Boys’ Final went to penalties and they were successful in beating The English School (Kuwait). First place for both teams! Player of the Football tournaments were both awarded to St Christopher’s students, Aiden Shretta in the Boys and Erica Moolman in the Girls. As a result of the teams’ performances, we were delighted to win Second Place overall. This was a fantastic result considering the level of competition from the other eleven schools.
