Healthy Heart, Happy Heart

St Christopher’s Senior School celebrated World Heart Day on Wednesday 27 September in lieu of 29 September. The aim of this day, is to promote a healthy lifestyle, having regular health checks and eating a balanced diet – “Your heart powers your whole body. It lets you love, laugh and live your life to the full”. We were delighted to help promote this message, and have been thrilled to see this event grow in popularity each year. This year’s event was our biggest so far, with over four hundred students taking part! The atmosphere in the hall was electrifying, as students and staff all enjoyed trying a variety of new activities from dancing to boxing, and rowing to circuits; some of our students even tried using cardio-vascular machines for the first time. The Senior School PE Team set up some fantastic and creative ways to encourage students to take part in activities, and would like to thank the community for their support. This year, we were joined by BigUp Sports (calisthenics demonstrations), Niki Osborne (Personal Trainer), Anna Davidovich (and her fabulous Zumba party!), Emile Collins (Freezone Fitness) and Artrail Coley (Boxing session). The St Chris SPARTA coaches arranged a variety of football challenges on the outdoor pitch, and a team of student volunteers and staff helped to manage Rowing Challenges, Ultimate Frisbee and Skipping activities. A team from Al Kindi Specialised Hospital and Educator Plus offered health checks and performed a CPR demonstration for the students. The Bahraini community now offers children and adults an enormous range of activities to help us keep healthy. We urge everyone to get out there and try something new!
