Year 7 Arabic Curriculum Evening

Year 7 parents were invited on 15 September 2014 to attend a meeting with the Arabic staff at St Christopher’s Senior School in Isa Town in the School Hall. Many parents attended the meeting and Mr Fuad, Head of Arabic,  stressed that the school believes that the curriculum should be exciting and engaging to ensure that students enjoy all aspects of their learning, resulting in the best possible achievement for each individual student. He also reiterated the fact that home and school should support the students to contextualise their learning and relate it to real life experiences as this helps our students understand the relevance of what they are doing at school. Parents were given a chance to ask questions and the staff answered a range of questions. Mr Fuad thanked the parents and wished all a successful academic year.

Year 10 Curriculum Evening

An audience of nearly 200 parents and students attended the Year 10 Curriculum Information Evening on Sunday 14 September in the School Hall, Isa Town. The evening, presented by Assistant Head of Senior School, Bryon Pearce, and Head of Year 10, Jamie O’Dowd, focussed on some of the significant curriculum changes affecting the current Year 10. Pastoral care and support, information regarding the wealth of leadership opportunities available to our students as well as details of some important educational initiatives that the school are currently pursuing. In his closing remarks, Nick Wilson, Head of Senior School, celebrated the recent outstanding achievements of the student body.

Year 12 Curriculum Information Evening

On Wednesday 10 September, a Year 12 Curriculum Information Evening was attended by over 100 students and parents. Following a welcome and presentation by Steve Keeble, Deputy Head of Senior School, Nick Wilson, Head of Senior School, provided an overview of how the School uses data to monitor student progress. Adrian Walker, Assistant Head of Senior School, clarified issues relating to Oxbridge/Medicine applications and also to the Extended Essay Qualification (EPQ). Also in attendance to answer parent and student queries were Danielle Sheppard, Head of Year 12, Andrew Beck, Head of Year 13, Paul Walters, IB Diploma Co-ordinator and Jade Scott, IB Diploma CAS Co-ordinator. The evening provided an opportunity for students and parents to ask a range of questions about all aspects of Sixth Form life.
