Under 13 Runners up

Our Under 13s had an amazing three days of sport in Oman. They reached the Finals in the Boys Volleyball and Girls Football and came Second in the Athletics. With all these great performances the Squad finished 2nd out of the 12 schools competing, missing out by one point to the Overall Winners.BSMEU13 Girls

In the Boys Football, St Chris enjoyed victories against Sherborne School, Qatar, Abu Dhabi International School, the Sultan School, Oman and draws with Brighton College, Abu Dhabi, the British International School of Jeddah and the British School Muscat, coming 5th place over all.

In the Girls Football, the first game was not a great success, but as the team played more, the players gradually improved. In the Semi-Final penalty shoot-out, Charlotte Pilgrim saved the opposition’s 3rd penalty which saw St Chris enter the Final, unfortunately losing to Dhahran British Grammar School.

The Athletics competition took place in the Sultan Al Qaboos Stadium. In the Boys competition, Kareem and Callum posted times of 13.5 and 13.1 respectively in the 100m Heats with Callum achieving a winning time of 13.00 in the Final. In the 200m, Kareem and Callum, who posted the fastest time, both competed again. Unfortunately, although winning his race, Kareem fell and fractured his wrist. In the 400m, Murray (1:03) and Roshan 1:07) came third in their Heats. In the 600m, Adreej, won his race in 1:51 and Louis came 5th with a time of 1:53. In the 4×100 relay, the team, consisting of Callum, Murray, Colby and Faris, ran to victory with a time of 53:5 seconds. In the 4×200 relay, the team, consisting of Fritz, Roshan, Mohammed and Cameron, achieved 6th place.  In the Field events, Colby won the shootout with a throw of 9.95m with a 4kg ball and Murray came second with a throw of 9m. Murray also won the Long Jump with a jump of 4’10. In the High Jump, Callum and Colby jumped 1’25 and 1’30. In the Triple Jump, Louis and Hamad jumped 5’30 and 5’93. In the Girls competition, 1st place was achieved in the 100m Relay Final, Alex Myatt and Bella Rushton came Joint 3rd in the High Jump, Charlie Axtell was placed 2nd in the Long Jump and Imaan Makhdum came 2nd in the 200m. St Chris were delighted to achieve an overall 2nd place in the Athletics for the whole squad. U13BSME_Boys

In the Boys Volleyball, St Chris stormed through the Group Stage with five wins out of five against the Sultan School, British School Kuwait, British international school of Cairo, Brighton College and British international school of Riyadh. The team displayed a great deal of teamwork and technical ability to succeed. St Chris then faced the 2nd team from Group 2 which was the British School Muscat in a very tight game in which St Chris won 25-20. St Chris then faced Dhahran British Grammar School in the Final of the Volleyball. It was a very nervy affair with, unfortunately, Dhahran coming out on top 25-19 points. In the Girls Netball, St Chris won the first match, then losing to Brighton College, the toughest team in the competition. St Chris secured victory against the British School Muscat, coming a creditable 6th overall.

All the competitors attended a celebratory Gala dinner at which the final results of the games were announced. St Chris was delighted to achieve the Runners-Up place which made the farewell disco all the more enjoyable.

The Boys Squad comprised Colby Altman, Kareem Bagaeen, Faris Al Khalo, Callum Dawson, Hamad Al Khalifa, Adreej Parmaj, Roshan Rahamathullah, Murray Gardiner, Louis Mulleague, Fritz Tautenhahn, Mohammed Al Shehabi and Cameron Sandy.

The Girls Squad comprised: Amna Al Matrook, Chloe Maxwell, Jessica Pickering, Charlotte Pilgrim, Charlotte Axtell, Alexandra Myatt, Imaan Makhdum, Arabella Rushton, Michaela Taggart, Maya Hussain, Gracinda Nahle, Nayfah Al Aali.
