Giving back to Bahrain

During the Spring Term, students in Years 7-9 have been invited to take part in a new Community Service initiative called “Giving Back To Bahrain”. The project, which was launched in recent Year group assemblies,  encourages students to ‘donate their time’ by helping out in the local community. St Christopher’s Senior School has linked up with local charities in Bahrain who have provided a variety of volunteering opportunities for our students. Charities supporting the project are: BSPCA, Tony the Dogfather, Clean Up Bahrain, Migrant Workers Protection Society, Dream Big, Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioural and Communication Difficulties, Be Free, Feed The Need, The Saturday Biriyani Party with Workers, Tree of Life Charity Society and Box of Goodness.

To promote this initiative, a Charity Fair was held in the Senior School Hall on Monday 16 January. The identified charities were in school to present so that students were able to find out more about volunteering opportunities before they decide upon their project focus. The event was very successful with many students attending to speak to the charity representatives. Ghazi Almoayed, BSPCA, commented “The event was very well coordinated with all charities involved being able to get across their message. The students were also very well behaved as expected and the BSPCA obviously needed no introduction to your school students. They came in droves asking about how to volunteer which was by far the biggest question.” Ali AlQaseer, Clean Up Bahrain, explained to Mrs Bourner that “It was really nice to interact with the students and see their interest in charity and voluntary work.”
