U 13 Girls Basketball, 2013
Wow, what a Basketball season this has been for the Junior Girls Basketball team! Impressively, we have managed to come 2nd in the League and 1st in the Tournament! The season was really fun and it was good to see everyone working hard and playing as a team. We only lost one game, by ONE point to MKS all season. A big thank you to Ms.Sheppard who trained us hard in order to help us achieve what we have. The Tournament was held at the Riffa Views International School. We beat Bahrain school in our first game, then we played and beat Bayan School. The game against BSB was very exhausting. Everyone ran their hearts out. We beat BSB and were extremely happy as we were in the Semi-Finals where we beat IKNS. In the Final against MKS, we played 15 minutes of the best Basketball we could and finally we were full of joy when the whistle blew for full time and the score was 9-3! We were all jumping around in celebration, it was a moment to remember! – By: Aarti Rangarajan

League and Tournament Winners
The Intermediate Girls Basketball Team had an exceptional season! Fifteen girls attended practice every Tuesday and Thursday, which made it a very strong squad and a difficult decision for coach Carol Harris and Mrs Stewart to choose from. We had five schools to play against in the BPSSL league. As you can see, we won them all!
Match | Score |
St Chris v RVIS | W 42-0 |
St Chris v BSB | W 18-5 |
St Chris v Bayan | W 30-0 |
St Chris v IKNS | W 51-4 |

The BPSSL end of season tournament took place at RVIS. Coaches from all five schools saw the St Chris Intermediate Girls team undefeated and saw us coming away with the Gold Medals.
Very well done to all of you, I have enjoyed playing with some of you for 2 years now. Good luck for next year as I will be moving up to Seniors! – Olivia Wilson (Captain)
Intermediate Girls Basketball
We started the Basketball season with a great win against MKS with a score of 50-0. Not letting our opposition score even one point boosted our confidence and playing skills for the forthcoming matches. We continued to defeat BSB with an impressive score of 60-8, however, a slightly more challenging match approached and we overcame Bayan school with a 32-26 win. The hardest and most demanding game was against Bahrain School with a close score of 26-24 where free shots were critical to win the match. Another tough game was against IKNS where despite not playing to our maximum potential we defeated them 21-16. Finally, we had an easy win over Al Raja to come first in the League and prepare ourselves for the Tournament.
As a team we worked well to communicate, with Ioanna Ali starting us off by winning most of the tip offs. Martina Goubran was the team’s most aggressive and determined player to get to the basket with a high score of 59 points in total. The youngest players of the team were certainly not the weakest – Basma Al Hashimi, Kirsty Coyle and Melinda Legg were key players for interceptions and fast breaks. Rawan Alsaegh was the team’s most accurate shooter, with the highest shooting percentage overall. Our dynamic duo, Tamara Kawash and Yasmine Makkiyah were essential for our team’s win by working well together both in defence and attack. With this motivated and talented team we won the League and came second in the Tournament as Bahrain School got their revenge by beating us by one basket in the last seconds of the match. In conclusion, we had an amazing and successful season thanks to our hard-working and ever-present coach, Mr Vaughan. Hopefully, it will be even better next season!
