St Chris v Doha College Golf Match and Bahrain Junior Open 2015
Doha College visited over the weekend of 2/3 May 2015 to play a match against the St Chris Golf Team and compete in the Bahrain Junior Open. They brought a mixed team with one single figure handicap as well as relative beginners who no doubt gained valuable experience playing in a real tournament. The Golfers were up early for the first day and enjoyed beautiful weather that was perfect for Golf. It certainly suited our team who shot a combined Stableford score of 270 to Doha’s 203. This was in no part due to excellent scores of 46 points by Charles t’Kint de Roodenbeke and 44 points by Ethan Murray. Day 2 saw equally impressive scoring from the St Chris Golfers and they managed to win the match by a comfortable margin of 542 points to 406. This was helped by excellent scores of 45 & 42 points by Charles & Ethan again – and this was despite Charles breaking both his Driver and 3 Wood!! In the Bahrain Junior Open itself the St Chris players dominated again with Alex Hopman-Ruh winning the U12s, Ethan Murray winning the U16s Nett and Stewart Hutchinson winning the U21s. However, pride of place went to Yaseen Le Falher who won the U16s and overall Bahrain Junior Open with scores of 73 and 67 – a magnificent achievement!! So Yaseen, the St Chris Golf Vice-Captain, collected the DC Challenge Trophy and is determined to hold onto it when the return match is held in Qatar next year at the Doha Golf Club. Well done to everyone who participated and many thanks to all the parents and supporters who came along to cheer on the golfing stars of the future!
