The Sands of Bahrain
The site of Qal’at Al-Bahrain (Bahrain Fort), has seen the comings and goings of local and foreign visitors for over 4,000 years. We are not certain, however, if there has ever been such an enthusiastic group of visitors as those who visited during the week beginning 31 January, 2016. Our trip to Bahrain Fort sits at the end of a study of castles and cements much learning about castle design and use. The children had great fun looking at the moat, turrets, curtain walls, keep and drawbridge.
Whilst at the ancient fort, the children utilized some modern technology – in the form of Samsung tablets, to video some enactments of activities the fort might have seen over the years – defending the fort, fencing practice, cleaning stables, riding horses and tending the animals. May we say thank you to all the mums and dads who joined us and helped to make it such a memorable trip.
