Year 1 step back in time…
As a ‘wow’ entry point to the study of Victorians, on the second day back from a lovely half-term holiday, all Year 1 children were subjected to a day of Victorian education. Normally caring, sensitive and cheerful teachers became stern, strict and unforgiving (of even the smallest behavioural or academic misdemeanours). Whilst the children and teachers enjoyed the day, everyone is agreed that this style of teaching cannot be maintained for very long and we much prefer school nowadays! The day has given us a valuable insight into Victorian childhood and generated many questions that we hope to answer over the half-term.
