Cold Comfort
On Thursday 23 October, the children in Year 2 held a Bring and Buy sale to raise funds to support the nationwide ‘Feed The Need’ fill the fridges project.
The children chose this initiative as the beneficiaries of their service project this year and had written to parents asking them to help them find pre-loved toys and books. They then made posters during their ICT lessons and wrote emails to parents and Year 1 children. Following the promotion of the event they were involved in deciding how much to charge for the items. By the time the sale, started there were tables overflowing in each classroom with some fabulous donated items.
As soon as the doors opened, children from Year 1 and 2 came flooding in! At one point there were around 300 people in the Year 2 classrooms jostling good-naturedly and haggling for bargains. Within 20 minutes EVERYTHING was sold out, after some amazing sales patter from our very persuasive Year 2 children who staffed the stalls. We had expected to raise around 100 BD but after just 15 minutes we had made in excess of BD355.
Thank you to all the children in Year 2 who donated their toys and worked so hard to sell them and to the parents for their support with this event.
