Well Done Y6 & Y7

The annual Year 6 and Year 7 Celebration of Achievement took place on the afternoon of Monday 25 June. The packed audience of proud parents, friends and teachers were treated to an enjoyable afternoon of award presentations, speeches and six wonderful musical performances from our students. Following Mrs Bataineh’s welcome address in which she highlighted the special caring and supportive atmosphere at St Chris, pairs of student presenters introduced each award recipient. The awards were presented in turn by Mr Goodwin, Mr Fellows, Mrs Bataineh and Mr Wilson and all recipients simply shone with pride as they crossed the stage to receive their certificates, all supported by rapturous applause from the audience. In between each group of awards, we were treated to six delightful musical performances from Year 6 and Year 7 soloists. These started with Maya Telang from Year 6 singing “Once upon a Dream” and concluded with Year 7 student, Talia Mitchell enthralling the audience with her Violin performance of Elgar’s “Idylle”. A special award at the event was also presented by our School Principal, Mr Goodwin and he was clearly delighted to present the inaugural BSME Ed Goodwin Award for Exceptional Service to Earsil D’Cruz of Year 7. This was immediately followed by the presentation of the prestigious Principal’s Award to one Year 6 pupil and one Year 7 student. These awards are, as always, only announced at the event and come as a pleasant surprise to the recipients and their parents. Mr Goodwin spoke of the qualities of each award recipient and their involvement in a range of extra-curricular activities and community service initiatives. A fitting conclusion to the event saw the Principal’s Awards for 2018 being presented to Madeline Stewart in Year 6 and Deena Al-Dahwi of Year 7. Congratulations to all award winners.
