U19 Unity Cup
A squad of eighteen St Christopher’s boys took part in the Under-19s Unity Cup Football Competition on the 7 and 8 February, held at the Rashid School in Dubai. Ten teams from around the Gulf took part in an intense League Competition where all of the teams faced each other during the two days. The St Christopher’s team improved with each game and played valiantly throughout the tournament, ending the first day on a positive note winning 4 -0 against BBS. Confidence was high at the start of the second day, which St Christopher’s ended undefeated, winning three games and drawing one. There was excellent football played with great performances against the strongest teams, which included a great individual goal from Faisal Al Haddad, two goals from Marwan Favre and clever game play by Cameron Kennedy. The last game resulted in a win for St Christopher’s, through a penalty, in the final few minutes created by Yousuf Alobaidli ,neatly tucked away with Rooney like composure by Sam Cheetham, whilst under pressure from the crowd. St Christopher’s came fifth overall and did themselves proud with an excellent squad performance which included a brave presence in goal by Salman Alwardi and captained by Alec Peters. It was a very successful trip which included other team building activities and was enjoyed by all.
