UNICEF
In October, we (Amal Ahmed and Amy Bonar) took the initiative to organize a project called ‘’Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF’’. The idea behind this project is that instead of children collecting sweets on Halloween night they ask for small donations that go towards raising funds for underprivileged children around the world. We really wanted to pursue this project as we had been introduced to the charity in Year 8 and had really gained from the fundraising experience. Therefore, we also wanted to give this opportunity to Key Stage 3, as it is a great fundraising activity to get involved with. After having contacted UNICEF offices in Bahrain and received the boxes from America, we proceeded to hold assemblies for Key Stage 3 in order to get as many children involved as possible. Around 40 groups signed up each ranging from 2-5 people and they successfully managed to raise a total of approximately BD600. This was a great experience for both of us and all the students involved, and we hope that this project will continue for the next few years, and a big thank you to Ms McKay, who helped us throughout the project.
