The Crunch of Pine Needles Underfoot
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Silver Award Expedition in Cyprus is always full of contrasts: village life, followed by open countryside, violent thunderstorms followed by the tranquillity of Aphrodite’s Baths and boots crunching on dry pine needles followed by the roar of the Cyprus rally. This year, sixty three students and ten members of staff enjoyed a fantastic expedition. The students were well prepared, their planning was meticulous and their strength and endurance were impressive. As always, the key to the success of a Silver Award Expedition is training and, for that, huge thanks goes to the staff who gave up their Wednesday afternoons and their half-term to provide the students with an unforgettable experience.
