A Step Back in History to the Bahrain Fort
During the week of 16 February, all Year 1 classes visited Qal’at al-Bahrain (Bahrain Fort) to gather information and ideas for a Design Technology project in which they would design and build their own castles. The current Bahrain Fort was built by Portuguese in the 15th and 16th centuries but has been an important site of human habitation for over 4,000 years. Racing up the hill to the fort and marveling at the depth of the, now empty, moat, descending into the cool dark of grain stores or climbing to the castle’s keep, the children couldn’t help but be impressed. Sophia, from 1B, expressed it better than we could: “Whoooa – It’s just the best!”
