Cycling through Trials and Tribulations
On Monday 20 April, students from all Year groups were invited to attend a presentation by Turkish National, Mr Gurkan Genc, who is cycling around the world over a period of 7 years. Mr Genc, amongst many other topics, talked about his motivation for his project, his Facebook Blog and the trials and tribulations of cycling across deserts in particular, the Gobi desert proving a lonesome and long trek. He regaled the audience of some 50 students with tales of his mistaken arrest, arguments with lorries, threats from wolves and, upliftingly, the very generous hospitality and warm of reception he had received in all the cultures he had encountered in his travels.
