Over Seas we Sail
At the end of February, the children of Year 2 set sail for the high seas to present their production – Pirate Girl!
After studying pirates in history and literacy, the children decided that they wanted the theme of this year’s production to have a seafaring theme.
In the show, a small girl is found adrift at sea and is captured by a terrible band of pirates only to be found by the girl’s mother and her female crew who turn out to be even more notorious. The message that women are just as important, powerful and resourceful as men comes through at the end of the show when the female crew liberate the pirate girl and co-opt the men to join their crew, with the male captain relegated to peeling potatoes.
The children had only 5 days to rehearse and were amazing in all aspects of singing, dancing and acting and speaking.
