Sand, Sun and Sea

In February, after cancelling the trip originally planned for December, the Year 2 children finally made it to the beach as the weather broke!

The weather was glorious so the layers that we had asked the children to wear were soon off and the activities began. Among them was a survey of beach pollution which had been a key aspect of their oceans and seas topic in the previous term. Although there was a lot to be found, more alarmingly was the proliferation of tiny jellyfish that had washed ashore and stretched along the entire beach. Following some amazing sandcastles being created the children then had to go on a treasure hunt to find 50 gold coins that had been smuggled in by the teachers and buried in the sand. Sadly, future visitors to the Yacht Club volleyball court may find some of them in years to come.
