Competition was Fierce
On the 13 March 2016, Year 5 and 6 competed in their inter-House swimming galas. Year 5 took to the water first, demonstrating an array of strokes. This event was closely followed by Year 6 who displayed some excellent swimming.
This year was the first time we changed the race selection process to enable the children to be more involved with the events they wished to swim. Each child chose two individual events and a relay. They also rated themselves, enabling swimmers of similar ability to compete against each other for the inter-House cup. For the more advanced swimmers the gala finished with a medley relay that involved the four strokes: backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle and for the first time ever a 50m freestyle relay, where we encouraged the swimmers to dive and include a tumble turn. The points were extremely close with only 31 points between 1st and 4th.
