Year 3 were very lucky to have the opportunity to visit Peninsula Farms as part of their DT and Science curriculum. In class they have been learning about plants and how they grow. Peninsula Farms is an amazing facility that uses modern hydroponic system and the children discovered how efficient and environmentally friendly this method of farming is. Hydroponic growing uses no soil but just plants in beds where they are nourished by nutrient rich water, using 75 percent less than in traditional farming methods. The children were given a guided tour of the farm and were able to visit the goats in their playground. The farm’s produce is available in supermarkets and available for home delivery.
