Pick It Up

On the morning of the 16 January, the usually quiet Al Asry Beach, close to Sitra, was a hive of activity.  Just before ten in the morning the shaded car park started to fill up with the cars belonging to a team of teachers and their families from the Senior and Junior schools of St Chris. Armed with protective gloves and black bin liners, the team worked industriously on the beach for well over an hour, leaving it a much pleasanter environment than when they first arrived.

Rubbish collected varied from the heavier and more substantial rolls of carpet and linoleum to the myriad of coke bottle lids and plastic water bottles. As the temperature soared, the bags accumulated, ready to be taken to the tip by the rubbish van. All in all, it was a successful morning and a job well done.
